Head of Individual Giving


The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew is a World Heritage Site and a global conservation organisation with a mission to inspire and deliver science-based plant conservation worldwide, enhancing the quality of life. It celebrates its 250th year in 2009.

Some of the greatest challenges to humanity are climate change and loss of plant diversity. The 2006 Stern report called for immediate action to mitigate and adapt. Kew plays a key role in global conservation, adaptation and mitigation of climate change and strategies to promote human well-being and sustainable livelihoods.

This position offers an experienced DM professional a unique chance to join Kew at a pivotal moment - to make a key contribution to global conservation, raising awareness and funds to make a positive impact on the world.

The role: You will be responsible for maximising income through Direct Marketing, as well as recruiting and retaining individual members and supporters. The successful candidate will pioneer techniques new to the organisation, such as eCRM, and will build on existing activities such as membership, legacies, donor appeals and donor analysis. This role will be responsible for delivering a regular giving pilot to be launched in Autumn 2008, and shaping the future of DM fundraising for Kew.  

The person: You will have a proven track record as a successful manager in donor development and/or direct marketing, meeting challenging income targets, and leading effective teams. Your excellent strategic, analytical and communication skills, along with your positive attitude, creativity, commitment to the cause will ensure your success in this role.
